  • Caricatures

As I was walking around the local Geranium Festival at the weekend (they completely shut down the center of our sleepy little town for a bunch of vendors to set up stalls) I came across a guy doing caricatures. We've had them done for the kids a few times but this time I stepped up for a laugh! I figured I could use it as an avatar if it ...

  • Dealing with Mrs Jobsworth

From wikipedia: A jobsworth is a person who uses his or her job description in a deliberately obstructive way, "a minor factotum whose only status comes from enforcing otherwise petty regulations". The term comes from the phrase "I can't do that, it's more than my job's worth." You may not be familiar with ...

  • Few Google tips

As I find them.. Gmail: I've seen 20-30 good emails caught in spam, so check it often while you train it. Since I don't want to check the same message twice, I mark the spam as read whenever I check it. Then, to check just the unread spam you can search for in:spam is:unread. Here's a list of other neat search terms. Google ...

  • Living in Gworld

Dan asked me to post an update as I explore deeper into the Google forest. I'm now fully committed to Gmail and Google Calendar (why isn't it GCalendar?) and Outlook is now purely an evil tolerated for work purposes only. And with Rob Howard's tweet this morning about Google Apps for business, perhaps that's only temporary! Go ...

  • Our Family Reunion

Not my real family - "the Telligent family reunion" was how Joe Morel described our recent get-together in Dallas. Ado shows you the fun side of working for Telligent in the latest video - your truly appears at 4:13, 5:55 and 6:34. w00t! P.S. I already found the blooper - look at 2:24. Terri Morton is incorrectly introduced as Joe ...

  • Take your cooler!

It's happened again; Seth posts about something that just happened to me.If it were really a security issue, they'd have to enforce it completely. If it's just a silly policy that someone dreamed up one day, it's sure to annoy people. Because it's irrational. Because it's not enforced in a way that makes sense.I went to the ...

  • 6am

''Three kids at 6:30 AM = utter chaos.'' Pah. I'll take your 6:30 AM and raise you 30 minutes. Plus, it's the first day of school, a new school (literally), and my youngest's Birthday. Up, Wash, Dress, Breakfast, Presents. On the bus at 7 AM... .. ...but, oh my oh my, the silence in the house today. [include:blogad]

  • Flickr

I played with Flickr a long time ago, but never really used it until last night/this morning.  I've been doing another round of building/testing the Community Server MSI in the last 24 hours and building/uninstalling takes a while. I've been using those ''whiles'' to start using Flickr and upload some photos. I quickly hit the limit on a ...

  • Maggie Shaw

Yesterday longtime GRRA Foster Mom Jill brought around two 8 week old puppies for us to look at and introduce to our Aussie Cody. We instantly loved the girl called Fallon (now Maggie). She's settling in well and her first night went very well. I only got up a couple of times, and she slept from 1:30 - 6am and woke up dry. Maggie's sleeping ...

  • Quickie Updates

In the spirit of GTD I have to do a brain dump here every so often. There are a lot of small bloggable items that aren't worth blogging seperately. Here they are: Many of the Community Server (CS) team had fun at the weekend, myself ncluded, writing CS Modules for a little impromptu contest that ScottW organised. As his IM says this morning ''I ...
