  • It's hard to let go

Before I talk about the subject at hand; Seth Godin is a genius. I still can't believe that he blogs multiple times a day and almost every one of his blog posts makes me smile and nod my head. Anyway, the blog post Loss vs. Gain struck a chord today because last night I switched some of my "extra" domains from manual renew to ...

  • Poems

And straight out of left-field is a link to a guy that I read every week when he sends us out a new poem. Yes, nerds, poem. I don't think I've linked to Robert Bruce at www.knifegunpen.com before, and since I'm on a conference call right now I can't be bothered to search. If I have before, sorry. But it's still ...

  • Splitting up Telligent

Hehe, no it's not breaking news of anything important. Just a catchy headline. It's just that today I'm taking the drastic step to split up my longest IM group - »Telligent - into a few smaller ones. I probably only have half the company in my list (very few services and administrative people at all) and it's still too big ...

  • RSS - more joys and pains

Plip blogged this morning about an old - very old - site of mine; www.asprss.com Created back in the heady days of 2001 (which seems like a differrent era to me, like remembering "before the war") the site was aimed at a small group of people that Steve Smith and I all knew personally that wrote articles about ASP (now "Classic ...

  • New app losing your signin?

At the weekend I had a problem with a new site where it would keep asking me to sign in every time I visited. It's well known now that ASP.NET 2.0 changed the way that timeouts worked, so I checked the web.config to make sure a long timeout was specified for the forms authentication. Check. But, still, after a very short period of time ...

  • Telligenti

This is very cool. We've talked about having a blog for Telligenti for *cough* quite some time, but finally we had time to put one up at www.telligenti.com.  I'm mirroring my new Telligenti tag over there which I'll use for more personal than technical posts. IMO the interesting part of the Telligenti site will be getting to know ...

  • Linking your blogs to a different URL

Gotta quickly blog this one since it was something I couldn't find out here in blogland.. CS has the ability (now hidden) to link each blog post to a given URL - any URL. As I said, it's hidden in the UI, so you can't set it, but I had to add it back so here's a quick and dirty method. Notes apply to CS2007 RTM.open ...

  • Busier than a busy thing

This week has been crazy on a secret site that is being launched next week. 3 hours sleep has become the norm, and caffeine is my friend. And it's the most fun I've had programming under pressure since debugging on the bridge of a $100,000/day survey vessel while Piper Alpha burned and everyone was willing my fingers to type faster. ...

  • Talking to myself

Why is it that you can walk into another developers office to ask a question - one that you've spent 15 minutes on google trying to find an answer - and you'll know the answer before you've even uttered 5 words. My old partner Luke and I used to joke that we couldn't figure out anything unless we regularly walked into each others ...
