I don't know James Cansdale personally, but I do find this MVP situation very interesting.
No, that's bollocks actually, it's more than "interesting".
Roy says it best:

Seriously, I've been an MVP for 3 years and an ASP Insider longer - and passion is what sets the best people apart from the rest. Some people call it arrogance sometimes, but if you see a problem (see Peter's petition) and can fix it (and/or bring the matter to wider attention), it is very tempting to do just that. The worst that should happen (and did in this case) is that you get MS Legal talking to you - but in this Era of The Blog you still get our recognition for trying to help the community..
