Bank Ripoff
Two weeks ago we had a new roof installed on our house to make it easier to sell. We were told that there was a bigger reason our house wouldn't sell for 4 months though; we have no garage. We had long ago converted our garage into a 500sq.ft kitchen, laundry room and pantry.
Apparently that was a big mistake; most people don't like leaving cars outside, even when you have a 600ft drive to park them on.
To fix that problem, we applied for a increase on our equity line-of-credit to build a garage too. (Don't you just love the amount money you spend on a house when you're trying to sell the thing?)
So, I pay the roof guy a nice fat check two weeks ago, and a few days ago we get an increased line-of-credit.
And then I get a phone call from the roof guy saying that the check got returned "account closed". *sigh*
Why, oh why do banks keep doing this stuff? My credit limit is just a number inside a computer forchrissakes. I'll fill in your 30 pages of paperwork, get it notarized and fedex it whereever you want, but then please just go in and change the number from $50,000 to $100,000, ok?
Oh, no, we couldn't do that Sir. They've issued new checkbooks, new Visa cards, new PIN numbers in the mail. All for no reason but to justify some closing costs I bet!
Still, life's too short to get too stressed by idiots. I figure they'll get bad karma for it and die soon. Shame I just won't be there to see it.
Ironically, we sold the house the day after the roof was finished and didn't need to build the garage anyway.
