First day with Tivo
Setup was EASY! Even the clunky looking IR to change channels on my cable box works. It'll take a few days to get used to the new Guide - I have to teach my young kids how to change Guide to Filter All on Children - but generally the Guide is much better than the Charter Cable one.
Being able to see what's on later on your favorite channels is very cool - especially when you can just highight the show and hit record!
Yes, I'm a fan.
But still, I can see already that you have to change your TV habits quite a lot to take full advantage of a DVR. No more planning around Tuesday 8pm to watch a show, because then you can't skip ads. You have to think that I'll watch that on Tuesday at 10pm or Wednesday. I guess when you have built up a buffer of shows to watch this will work ok, but of course at the moment we're wanting to watch the shows as they come on.
On another note, I read some figures on the rebate (Tivo's have insanely rebated 75% of the purchase price on all Tivo's bought on/before 01/07 so this really is your last chance) that they got 100,000 new subscribers and half the customers didn't bother to apply for the rebate.
50,000 customers not asking for $150, that's a nice $7.5m Christmas present for Tivo. Me, I'm filling in my form right now and photocopying everything just like the cheap sod* that I am.
And just to further prove that I'm out to profit from you lot as much as possible, please use my email address tivo-at-shawthing.com when purchasing - apparently I'll get some points or something.
