Holiday Traditions
I imagine most families have Holiday Traditions. Here are some of ours:
- We don't see anyone on Christmas Day. We live thousands of miles from Grandparents anyway, but Christmas Day is now traditionally pajama day. Getting dressed is banned.
- No-one allowed out of their rooms until 6am.
- Presents after breakfast.
- No turkey on Christmas Day, this year it's Ham.
- After lunch we always "find" an extra present hidden in the branches of the tree - a note from Santa that sends the kids off on a treasure hunt. This year I set up three treasure hunts - one per kid - and at the end they all get a single word. I'm looking forward to seeing if my 11 year old can work out where the present is from the words ABSENT MALT BEE. (Thanks to The easypeasy Anagram Engine). First one to leave the answer in the comments gets a limited edition Dozing Dogs Mug. LOL.
- Lots of cheeses for tea for Mom and I. A rare treat this year including crackers with Stilton, Brie, Caviar and other luxuries. With the Stilton and Brussel Sprouts our fridge is truly stinking!
- Boxing Day is when we get social again. Friends arrive for a traditional English Christmas Dinner with obscenely large turkey, Paxo stuffing, Bread sauce, Yorkshire puddings, Mince pies, Clotted cream and of course REAL GRAVY (all our friends are officially addicted to Bisto).
What fun traditions do you have for the holidays?
