Road Trip report

I'm leaving poor Jeff and Laurel in too much suspense - yes, I made the trip from Dallas to Atlanta with no problems at all. It's a great car.

After spending Monday morning in the Telligent office putting names to faces I left at 12:20 for the 785 miles home. (I originally thought it was over 900, but that included the drive from Waco where I picked up the car)

I took more photos, but every state looked the sameMan, I-20 is boring. 2 lanes is not enough for comfort either; if you don't get behind a truck and stay at the same speed it gets tiring real quick.

When those semi's roar past at 85mph I felt like a rag doll. There's so much turbulence around them that even overtaking slower semi's is unpleasant. Especially at 3am.

I stopped every 200 miles or so, checking the oil for the first couple of times but the car ran perfectly. I gradually increased the cruising speed from 60mph to 80mph. That big block has some power; you can stomp on it at 80 and it leaps forward. Gotta love torque. Big gobs of it.

So, two cans of Mountain Dew and a King Size Twix every 200 miles was the fuel that kept me going for 15 hours straight - I got home at 3:30am. Up at 6am to get the kids ready for school, so I slept well last night!

Why didn't I get to lay in on my first morning home? Because the kids all wanted to be taken to school in the car with the top down of course! We got the award for the "best car in the drop off lane" according to the teachers.
