Moving The Car
Because of our plans to move house later this year we've been putting the finishing touches to our house; renovating the last remaining bathroom and repainting the whole house, etc.
One thing that came up was the "shed" in the back yard - it has been there for 30 years, but was built by idiots who had no idea what they were doing.
For example, the slab has buckled and cracked and the door/window openings have no lintels above them.
So the realtor and I decided that it would be better to have no shed than this shed. Tomorrow the demolition crew arrive to push it down and take it away.
Which left me with a car and a lot of tools to move. Luckily my friend Charles has just bought a new office with a garage!
He hasn't moved in yet, so I sneaked my way in first and got to borrow it for a while. First up, how to move "the car".
It's not really a car. It looks like a car, sure, but it's really a rolling chassis with a lot of chicken wire, foam and bondo on it. Seriously, what you see is just me making a buck to take a mould from.
And of course, it's not exactly sturdy which worried me a little for a 60 mile trip on the back of a truck. And then there is the 2" ground clearance problem - too low for even a jack to get underneath- which if you've ever had a low car you will understand that getting it on the trailer is not easy at all. Think of overhangs and change of gradient.
But in fact, it went just fine. The trailer guy got pulled over by the DOT who apparently do such things and tried hard to find the VIN on my car (HAH!) and weren't at all happy when they couldn't. But they let him go and after a lot of grunting and sweating it is now under lock and key somewhere in downtown Locust Grove, GA.
Let all draw near and hear this proclamation. I swear on pain of death and/or dismemberment that I shall have a real workshop in my next house and finish this car before the kids leave home (FYI, Jesse is 6)
