V.C. Rick has kindly talked about Dozing Dogs and I before, and every time it is followed by a boost in interest; more questions, more downloads and a few more sales.
So, how cool is this, Rick's done it again.
(Interestingly, even before I get Rick's feed I had Technorati inform me that a new instance of my name and company name had been found in a blog. RSS on search is really very, very cool.)
This time Rick offers me up as an example of "people that just play the odds correctly and make it easy to learn about their respective companies and be reachable".
Which reminded me straight away that I had still not posted the company phone number. I've meant to before, but always held back - phone technical support is one perk of buying a maintenance subscription you see.
So why change my mind and remove a perk from my best customers, potentially upsetting them? Because no-one uses it.
How many calls do you think I've had to 1-877-DOZ-DOGS (1-877-369-3647)?
I don't remember more than 3, in 9 months since the doors opened. THREE!
Email support is still #1 method to get help, and has the huge advantage that all emails are automatically tracked and managed by FogBugz that means that no email gets lost and they can be easily turned into a bug-fix or feature request.
IM support is also popular with a few customers (you know who you are
)
But phone support has been surprisingly quiet. So it's time to post the phone number on the site today and at least offer that option to potential customers too.
Incidentally, it's a phone number rented from www.gotvmail.com, a service I'm very pleased with. For $9.95 a month they forward all calls to my cell phone, email me voice mail mp3's and allow me to set up departments with receptionists and who-knows-what. Check it out if you're a small ISV.
