Flipping Hell

Ok, so I'm back to blogging. Slight bump in the road successfully negotiated. One interesting thing to come out of it is that we're probably going to move house. Probably.

We're in one of the most expensive parts of Atlanta; probably the most desirable for families and hence the fixer-upper we bought 4 years ago has almost doubled in value because of all our hard work. That's some serious dough, so it's time to move on.

I've moved a lot, and if you're willing to put some sweat into it you can hardly fail to make money. Everyone wants their houses freshly painted and ready to move into. Preferably freshly painted cream forgodssake.

I blame my mother - we lived in 13 houses before I was 7, and it stuck. We've lived in 6 houses in the last 11 years, but they've gone from a $120k house to - well, much more than that. We're considering moving to the southside of town which is a booming area where the houses are literally half price. Consider this one; 13 acres, 5 bedrooms, in-law appartment, 7 car garage for $450k. This is the most expensive house we're looking at - the cheapest is just $170k. Acreage baby, that's what it's about.

Crazy crazy prices and if our realtor valued our house correctly we have cash over to consider flipping houses. Rather than do it on the house we live in, we'll look for houses on the market for 9 months, rip out the kitchen, bathroom, carpets and redecorate. You need the cash up front to play this game, but there are good profits in it.

Are any of you trying it? I'd love to hear from you, especially in Atlanta.

I'll probably start another blog out there to talk about this stuff. (Damn. You know my mental problem with buying domain names just can't let me type a sentence like that without clicking the GoDaddy shortcut. Now I have FlippingHell.com and FlippingHeaven.com to have some blogging fun with)
