Surprising! Rope not chain?

I find this surprising. A huge 30 foot branch snapped on a tree in our yard a few weeks ago, but remained attached. I decided to pull it off using our Expedition, but I needed a seriously beefy towrope.
So I went to Home Depot (spot a recurring theme here anyone?) and looked at their tow-chains - assuming that a big-ass chain is going to kick a rope's butt. WRONG!
The biggest, baddest chain was rated at just 1,900lbs. The rope below was rated at 10,000lbs! Of course, you know which I have in the back of my truck now. It ripped that branch off no problem, in fact the back end of the Expedition was hanging by the rope at one point. It's pretty strong.
Tim Allen would grunt at this point. Aargh, aarg, arggh.
